Le attività di ricerca sono inquadrate nell’ambito del progetto MicroAlgae 4.0. MicroAlgae 4.0 è un progetto di ricerca e sviluppo professionale finanziato dal programma Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) (GA: 101067621) e mira a sviluppare uno schema di Water Resource and Recovery Facility (WRRF) basato sulla biotecnologia della coltivazione delle microalghe per massimizzare la produzione di acqua rigenerata e il recupero dei nutrienti dalle acque reflue, produrre sottoprodotti dalla biomassa delle microalghe e ridurre al minimo l’inquinamento ambientale. A tal fine, MicroAlgae 4.0 si concentrerà sul superamento delle barriere che ostacolano l’ampia implementazione di sistemi basati sulle microalghe, migliorando le prestazioni e l’affidabilità del processo, sviluppando strumenti digitali innovativi che monitorano e automatizzano il sistema e garantendo la sicurezza dei sottoprodotti ottenuti.

Research Areas
The research activities are framed withing the MicroAlgae 4.0 project. MicroAlgae 4.0 is a research and career development project funded by the Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) program (GA: 101067621) and aims to develop a Water Resource and Recovery Facility (WRRF) scheme based on microalgae cultivation biotechnology to maximise reclaimed water production and nutrient recovery from wastewater, produce by-products from microalgae biomass, and minimise environmental pollution. To this aim, MicroAlgae 4.0 will focus on overcoming the barriers that hinder the wide implementation of microalgae-based systems by improving the performance and reliability of the process, developing innovative digital tools that monitor and automate the system, and assuring the safety of the by-products obtained.

Josué González Camejo è ingegnere chimico e ricercatore postdoc presso l’UNIVPM. È specializzato in processi sostenibili e di trattamento delle acque reflue. Le sue principali aree di ricerca riguardano la transizione da impianti di trattamento delle acque reflue convenzionali (WWTP) a impianti di recupero delle risorse idriche nuovi e circolari (WRRF), l’uso di tecnologie basate su microalghe e membrane per il riutilizzo delle acque reflue e l’analisi dei contaminanti di interesse emergente (in particolare le microplastiche) nei WWTP. Coordina il progetto MSCA-MicroAlgae 4.0 e collabora ad altri progetti finanziati dall’UE come PRIMA-FIT4REUSE (www.fit4reuse.org), H2020-HYDROUSA (www.hydousa.org), Horizon Europe-BIORECER e PRIMA-Sure_Nexus (www.surenexus.eu). È stato selezionato nel 2022 come giovane esperto nel Water Scarcity Body of Knowledge dell’EIT. È anche segretario dell’azione costiera NEXUSNET (CA20138) e membro di YWP-Spain e della Climate-KIC Alumni Association. Ha pubblicato 19 articoli su riviste scientifiche peer-reviewed (H-index = 11).

Dr. Josué González Camejo (M) is a chemical engineer and Marie Curie Fellow at the UNIVPM. He is specialised in sustainable and waste wastewater treatment processes. His main research areas are related to the transition from conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) to novel and circular water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs), the use of microalgae- and membrane-based technologies for wastewater reuse and the analysis of contaminants of emerging concern (specifically microplastics) in WWTPs. He coordinates the MSCA-MicroAlgae 4.0 project and is collaborating in other EU-funded projects such as PRIMA-FIT4REUSE (www.fit4reuse.org), H2020-HYDROUSA (www.hydousa.org), Horizon Europe-BIORECER and PRIMA-Sure_Nexus (www.surenexus.eu). He has been selected in 2022 as young expert in the EIT Water Scarcity Body of Knowledge He is also the Secretariat of the NEXUSNET Cost Action (CA20138) and a member of YWP-Spain and the Climate-KIC Alumni Association. He has published 19 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals (H-index = 11).
