Activity
The Italian law n. 257/92 has prohibited any activityconcerning asbestos-containing materials such as production, marketing, import and export. The same law also regulated asbestos abatement and removal as well as remediation of polluted areas.The D.M. 6/9/1994 has defined the reference legislation and the technical methods for asbestos testing.
The Laboratory for Asbestos Analysis (LAA) at the SIMAU Department is one of the qualified laboratories (code 100MAR11)from the Ministry of Health to perform asbestos testing on bulk materials and air filters.
In particular, at LAA, qualitative and quantitative determination of asbestos mineral fibresis carried out by the following techniques:
The LAA performs all asbestos testing in accordance to the methodologies prescribed by the D.M. 6/9/94.
Bulk materials as well as air filters can be delivered to LAA for both qualitative and quantitative asbestos testing. Requests for analysis can be submitted by both public and private bodies and, in general, by anyone who needs to check the presence of asbestos in any sample.
