The scientific and academic activities concern the following areas: optimization of the behaviour of buildings with respect to several integrated performance (comfort, energy saving, sustainability, durability); development of innovative components for the building envelope; development of behavioural models to predict building occupants’ adaptive actions.
The main areas of interest are:
1 – Comparison and optimization of energy saving, sustainability mechanical and durability performance of advanced components for the building. For example nano-coatings, nano-foams, structural adhesives, cladding for ventilated facades etc.
2 – Optimization of the dynamic behaviour of the building envelope (thermal inertia, ventilated facades, automated window opening systems, etc.) in relation to internal and external environmental variability
3 – Modelling of the occupants’ behaviour inside buildings and development of forecasting algorithms
